Oct 29 Excellence: The Finest New Superyacht From The 2019 Monaco Yacht Show

The annual Monaco Yacht Show, held at the end of September, celebrated its 29th anniversary this year. It was an amazing show of 125 superyachts in the charming setting of Port Hercules. 44 of the yachts were brand-new models, giving us a glimpse at the bright future of luxury boat design.

The biggest story to come out of the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show was the largest vessel on display. At 365 feet (111.5m), TIS grabbed a lot of the headlines for a lot of the right reasons. You can read more about Superyacht TIS here.

What was our favorite yacht at this year’s show? We fell in love with Excellence. She may not have been the biggest on parade but she certainly created a few waves among the crowd.

Excellence was recognized with both the 2019 Exterior Design Award and the 2019 Finest New Superyacht Award. Shall we take a look?

Just a cursory glance at Excellence is enough to see why she was singled out as something special. The angular reverse bow is a thing of pure design and engineering beauty and could push us forward into a new era in superyacht design.

Excellence was launched in 2019 by famed German shipyard, Abeking & Rasmussen. She’s a motor yacht which extends to 262 feet in length (79.95 meters) with an overall gross tonnage of 2115.

The exterior and the interior of this eye-catching new superyacht were designed by British firm, Winch Design. They say their clients’ brief was to create a “seamless feel of openness and connection to the outside world”. We say you nailed it.

The double-height windows which span the two central decks line the walls of the main living areas. They are certain to create that sense of openness and a strong connection to the vastness of the deep blue sea.
