As it looks like the world will continue to be under coronavirus restrictions at least until the spring, we thought we’d take a look at the vacation destinations that represent the best options for those who are ready to get away right now.
These places are the safest locations and easiest to travel to under the present pandemic constrictions. All statistics are accurate as of the time of writing (5th January 2021) according to Worldometer.
If you want a current update on the state of travel in these locations or anywhere around the world, reach out to us at EliteLyfe at your earliest convenience. With that said, here are the best vacation destinations for the Great Getaway of Winter 2021.
Covid Safe Destinations
Without a doubt, the safest place to travel in the world at the moment is the Caribbean. Being island countries with small populations, they pretty much all managed to get control of the pandemic quickly and put measures in place to stop the virus from spreading.
While visitors will need to present proof of a negative covid test upon entry, many of the Caribbean countries remain open to travelers from the U.S. The safest islands in the Caribbean are in the east, and the safest of all of these countries is Anguilla. It’s had only 15 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began and currently has just 2 active cases.
If your Great Getaway is leading you to Anguilla, you can check out the range of villas EliteLyfe represents here.
St Barts (or St Barth) is a popular Caribbean vacation destination that remains relatively covid free. This upmarket French island paradise has registered only 190 cases of coronavirus with just 17 active cases. EliteLyfe represents a broad variety of villas and estates in St Barts. If this is the place for your Great Getaway of Winter 2021, check out the range of properties on offer in St Barts here.
The Turks and Caicos Islands is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Caribbean that we represent, and due to having few coronavirus cases, has remained very popular with those looking to get away in winter 2021.
Turks and Caicos currently has just 121 active cases in a country of over 40 islands. If you want to explore the range of luxury villas we offer in Turks and Caicos, check out the EliteLyfe listings here.
If you want to know what life is like in Turks and Caicos, you can read our interview with our business partner who operates out of Providenciales.
While we could list pretty much any eastern Caribbean island as safe for travel during the coronavirus pandemic, the last one we will mention here is Barbados. The country currently has just 275 active cases and is without a doubt one of the most beautiful natural paradise islands in the world.

Easy-Entry Destinations
Countries with low coronavirus statistics are the obvious choice for those looking to get away for a peaceful and safe vacation, however, there are other destinations that are open to U.S. citizens that represent a secure break.
While Mexico has had a lot of cases of coronavirus, it is a huge country, with the vast majority of problems centralized to the cities. Mexico remains very easy to enter, with no need to present a negative covid test.
OK so it might not be the best idea to travel to Mexico City, but with so many beautiful destinations that are far removed from civilization, it remains one of the countries that is safe to travel to despite the pandemic. EliteLyfe represents villas and estates in Cabo San Lucas, Punta Mita, and the Riviera Maya, you can check out our listings in Mexico here.
The Dominican Republic also remains open to U.S. citizens and does not require proof of a negative coronavirus test upon entry. There’s currently a curfew in place that limits night time activity but staying in a private villa means you can have no contact with the outside world and host your own party. You can see the range of EliteLyfe villas in the Dominican Republic here.
Those who prefer to stay in the U.S. should consider visiting the state that has the second least number of coronavirus cases in the country: Hawaii. For those interested, Vermont has the fewest. Hawaii currently has 8,574 active cases but with some of the most impressive vacation estates on the planet, it’s easy to take a break there without the need to be in contact with other people.
Hawaii does have a few rules in place to control the spread of coronavirus, namely, the need to self-quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. You can, however, bypass this rule if you provide proof of a negative covid test prior to traveling. Having said that, those who want to visit Kauai still need to self-quarantine irrespective of a negative covid test. You can check out the EliteLyfe villas in Hawaii here.
EliteLyfe represents a variety of private islands and micro-resorts around the world that are ultra-safe and secure, despite what the statistics for the country say. If you would like more information on any of the countries listed here or to discuss booking your own private resort, please reach out to us at your convenience.
